SIHH 2016: Patrimony Collection New releases at the SIHH 2016

The Patrimony collection draws inspiration from the elegance of the 1950s. At the 2016 SIHH, this restrained and sophisticated horological icon welcomes new models combining technical excellence and design, all bearing the prestigious Hallmark of Geneva.

Patrimony Perpetual Calendar Collection Excellence Platine

A stellar complication – the perpetual calendar – joins the Collection Excellence Platine. This Haute Horlogerie classic is powered by the legendary Caliber 1120 QP, an ultra-thin mechanical self- winding movement revealing the elegance and finesse of the Patrimony collection.

Caliber 1120 QP developed and crafted by Vacheron Constantin drives the hours and minutes hands, the moon phases at 6 o’clock along with a perpetual calendar displaying the day of the week in a counter at 9 o’clock, the date in a counter at 3 o’clock, the month and leap year in 48-month counters at 12 o’clock. Acknowledged by connoisseurs as one of the most iconic existing perpetual calendars, it will smoothly cope with all the vagaries of the calendar without requiring any corrections until March 1st 2100. Unlike simple calendars requiring manual correction after every month with less than 31 days, the perpetual calendar takes account of the leap-year cycle with its 31-, 30- and 28-day months, as well as the quadrennial recurrence of February 29th. This sophisticated function requires prodigious miniaturisation to mechanically adjust it so as to keep track of calendar irregularities. This miniaturisation has been taken to extremes in order to achieve an ultra-thin perpetual calendar. Vacheron Constantin Caliber 1120 QP measures just 4.05 mm thick, beats at the frequency of 2.75 Hz (19,800 vibrations per hour), and has a 40-hour power reserve. The oscillating weight cut out in the shape of a Maltese cross further embeds the design codes of the Maison at the heart of the movement.

In keeping with the aesthetic codes of the Collection Excellence Platine born in 2006, this new Patrimony Perpetual Calendar is crafted in 950 platinum case, as is the dial. The latter features a finely grained sand- blasted dial discreetly bearing the inscription “Pt50” between 4 and 5 o’clock. The slightly convex external zone is adorned with a circular “pearl” minute-track and 18K white gold applied hour-markers. The hours and minutes hands are in 18K white gold, while the calendar pointers are in blued steel. Setting the finishing touch, the saddle-finish dark blue alligator strap is hand-stitched with silk and 950 platinum threads, and secured by a folding clasp in the same metal.

Revolving beneath the dial, the moon disc depicts the heavenly vault in white gold enhanced by a blue galvanic treatment. Each star has been delicately crafted so as to provide an exact map of the sky. Fitted with a sapphire back enabling one to admire Caliber 1120 QP, the 41 mm-diameter case is water- resistant to 3 bar (approximately 30 meters.

This exceptional model will be launched in a strictly limited and numbered 100-piece edition.

Patrimony, three new 42mm models

A new and more generous diameter for three models in platinum, white gold and pink gold, bearing the Hallmark of Geneva.

While the formal purity of the Patrimony collection is highlighted by the refinement of the noble materials from which the watches are crafted, it is given a distinctly contemporary expression in an even more generous diameter. The three models interpreted in 42 mm case elegantly assert the pure, restrained lines of the iconic Vacheron Constantin collection. Reflecting a minimalist design that combines taut lines with rounded curves in a pleasing aesthetic balance, the new models presented at the SIHH 2016 come in 950 platinum, 18K white gold or 18K 5N pink gold.

In keeping with the Patrimony design codes, these timepieces feature a broad opening framing understated dials that are slate-colored for the platinum version and silver opaline for the white gold and pink gold models. Slightly convex on the external zone and adorned with a circular “pearl” minute-track, the restrained dial is enlivened by a small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock.

The functions are driven by Caliber 4400 AS, a mechanical manual-winding movement developed and manufactured by Vacheron Constantin. Visible through the sapphire crystal caseback, it features all the hand finishes characteristic of Haute Horlogerie. All models bear the Hallmark of Geneva.

Patrimony, a gold bracelet for the icon of the Maison

Vacheron Constantin introduces a new version of its iconic Patrimony 40 mm model by adorning it with an 18K 5N gold bracelet. The latter, a true Fine Watchmaking classic, endows the watch with a particularly precious character and makes a seamless fit with the case.

With the superbly slender silhouette of its 6.8 mm case and a heart beating to the rhythm of a mechanical manual-winding in-house movement, the Patrimony model reflects horological tradition and appears in an even more refined guise in this new version with gold bracelet.

Endowed with a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and an approximately 40-hour power reserve, Caliber 1400 housed by the Patrimony timepiece is distinguished by meticulously chamfered bridges adorned with Côtes de Genève, as well as a circular-grained baseplate. This exceptional caliber is housed in an 18K 5N pink gold case measuring 40 mm in diameter.

Accentuating the slim lines of the collection, the silvered opaline dial is distinguished by a slightly convex external area. Enjoying excellent legibility thank to a broad opening, the dial is enhanced by discreet hour- markers and a pearl minute-track. The baton-type hands, also in 18K 5N pink gold, further highlights the refinement to this timepiece, accentuated by the emblematic Maltese cross.

Patrimony small model

The contemporary yet classic Patrimony collection welcomes a new 36 mm model designed for both feminine and masculine wrists. Two new references thus join the collection, adorned with bracelets in 18K white gold or 18K 5N pink gold. These watches bearing the Hallmark of Geneva house a self-winding 2450 Q6 caliber entirely manufactured by Vacheron Constantin. The gold oscillating weight is polished and engraved according to an exclusive motif inspired by the emblem of the Maison.

The elegantly streamlined watch profile highlights an appealing 8.1 mm thick silhouette. The 18K gold case frames a silvered opaline dial enlivened by an aperture-type date display and a central seconds hand. Long applied hour-markers interspersed with a circular “pearl” minute-track set a pleasing visual cadence. The quest for simplicity follows the regular sweep of the hands with all the inherent refinement of the Patrimony collection.

Fitted with a remarkably supple 18K gold bracelet, the Patrimony small model is perfect for daily wear in any circumstance.
