Wednesday April 3rd in Somerset House, London. As patron of the European Artistic Crafts Days, Vacheron Constantin, the world’s oldest watch manufacturer in uninterrupted activity since its founding, together with Walpole a not-for-profit organisation in the United Kingdom that plays a benchmark role in promoting the excellence of British luxury, hosted three hundred or so guests at the occasion of the exhibition “Crafted – Makers of the Exceptional”.
The inauguration was attended by Julia Carrick, Walpole CEO & Founder of How to Spend It, Guy Salter, Founder of the Walpole Crafted Programme and Juan-Carlos Torres, CEO of Vacheron Constantin.
In the course of this exhibition, guests were able to admire the work of twenty artistic artisans excelling in crafts such as glass blowing, jewellery, lapidary and knitwear, as well as watchmaking and enameling proposed by Vacheron Constantin.
On this occasion, Vacheron Constantin presented its new collection Métiers d’Art Florilège, a tribute to the time-honoured Genevan art of Grand Feu enamelled miniature painting
In his speech, Juan-Carlos Torres reminded listeners that the craftspeople and watchmakers of Vacheron Constantin “have been continually perpetuating their know-how, whereby the more experienced masters train the younger apprentices, thus enabling them to perpetuate an heritage and to transmit human values that have defined the spirit of the Manufacture since 1755”
