The event took place on Thursday April 4th, in the Palais de Tokyo, Paris. As patron of the European Artistic Crafts Days, Vacheron Constantin, the world’s oldest watch manufacturer in continuous activity, together with the Institut National des Métiers d’Art (INMA – the French National Institute of Arts and Crafts), hosted around 600 guests on the occasion of the exhibition entitled “Les Métiers d’Art se mettent en scène” (Artistic Crafts take the stage). The inauguration was attended by Aurélie Filippetti, French Minister of Culture and Communication, Sylvia Pinel, Minister of Craft, Commerce and Tourism, Jean-Michel Delisle, President of the Institut National des Métiers d’Art, Jean de Loisy, President of the Palais de Tokyo, Serge Nicole, President of the Atelier d’Art de France , as well as Juan-Carlos Torres, CEO of Vacheron Constantin.

“Les Métiers d’Art se mettent en scène” is in fact more than just an exhibition; it is an invitation to take part in an original emotional experience. The purpose of this now annual event is to bring the general public closer to artistic craftspersons and to make their work better known.  Guests were thus able to meet a variety of artisans including a ceramist, a wood-cutter, a goldsmith as well as a Vacheron Constantin engraver.

Moreover, in deciding to organise this exhibition in the Palais de Tokyo, the various partners of the European Artistic Crafts Days wished to underscore the inseparable bond between traditional artistic crafts and contemporary art.

Through its partnership with the Institut National des Métiers d’Art (INMA), Vacheron Constantin is pursuing its commitment to the Artistic Crafts in order to contribute to enhancing their acknowledged value by spreading knowledge of these artisans of excellence.
