Vacheron Constantin Métiers d’Art Tribute to the Animal Kingdom – Papercroc

From the circular frame of a watch dial, an all-white crocodile prowls through seemingly snow-covered vegetation. It appears sculpted from ice; in reality, it is fashioned entirely from white cotton paper. It is the result of microscopic paper sculpting executed on sheets of two different weights, 250 and 300 grams, through a combination of embossing, laser cutting and hand assembly. The layered construction, measuring only 3 millimeters in height, creates subtle reliefs and delicate gradations of depth that interact with light, which, as it glides across the monochromatic surface, defines every contour and heightens the intricacy of the composition.
